I just wanted to take a blog minute to talk a bit about why I started this blog. I realize that I just listed what I do but not why I am doing it. Its pretty simple. I am passionate about living a healthy life holistically. I believe that mind, body and spirit are all connected and dis-ease cannot be treated unless we look at the whole person. The way we think, eat and our belief system is so powerful in determining whether we hear or not. Curing is not the same as healing. Healing comes from deep within. Knowledge is power and people need credible information to make decisions about their health and be able to reach out to hear about others experiences. Ghandi said "be the change you want to see in the world" so every little bit each of us do to help another brings about positive changes in the world. There is no greater purpose in life than making a contribution to the planet and for the good of others. You can do that one caring gesture at a time. There are so many great practitioners and healers out there and blogging is a great way to connect to them so we can all help and heal each other.
My husband and I are making continual efforts to be greener. In addition to the normal recycling, buying a small fuel efficient car and appliances and buying locally, I love to make my own products. I have been reading about all the dangers of household cleaning products. A good book on this is "Green Goes With Everything" by Sloan Barnett. Making your own non-toxic cleaning products is so easy and much better for the planet. I also make body scrubs for calming, energizing, muscle aches, etc. Being an aromatherapist, I am very sensitive to smell and there is nothing better than a house that smells of calming lavender! My other passion is cooking and I will be sharing all the new recipes I create that utilize locally grown fruits and vegetables that are in season and once I charge my camera, I will share photos! Please send me your experiences with alternative remedies and any questions you have.
Namaste
Maria
