I just recently watched a terrific documentary called, "Food Inc." It presents the real truth about the source of our food supply. The food industry has become a monopoly run by just a few big corporations concerned only about high profits regardless of low quality standards. As a result there
is zero respect for animals and the farmers. The documentary is very hard to watch at times especially since they show you how horrifically animals are treated. Animals have emotions and are innately aware of what is happening to them when they are going to slaughter. Remember that when you eat meat, whether it is from a cow, chicken or pig you are also eating the energy coming from that animal and unless they are treated ethically that negative energy isn't something you want to ingest.
The good news is that once again we the people have the power to change things. Many school lunch menus across America are changing due to the mothers and fathers who are demanding it. Once we are informed and educated as to what is really going on we have to write our congressmen and women and demand change. Support your local farmers, co-ops, farmers’ markets and try to buy organic whenever possible.

Many great contributors to this film include such food visionaries as Michael Pollan (In Defense of Food & Omnivores Dilemma) who I have written about previously, Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation) and Gary Hirshberg (CEO of Stonyfield Farms) who all present a thoughtful analysis of what is a very serious issue. I really believe everyone should see this.
