Green and Beautiful!

What we put into our bodies is important to our health. No one disputes that. But, do you ever think about the effect of what you put on your body as well? According to a recent survey, most Americans use about 9 products a day.... from lipstick to body lotion, deodorant, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair color, shaving cream, hair sprays, gels and perfume to name a few. Many of these products have potentially toxic, yes toxic ingredients. What you put on your body gets absorbed inside so looking at the ingredients on all the products you use is important. Now I am the first to admit that I LOVE my Channel lipsticks! No one makes a good red like Channel! However as I have become more conscious of the planet and my health, taking a look at all the ways in which I create a toxic environment for myself and my husband is really important to me. We are all on this planet together and all connected so what I do affects everyone else. That is why I am starting with my own habits to make a difference.

Most department store lipsticks have lead in them. Would you spread lead on your body everyday? I only use non-toxic lipsticks and products made by companies that care more about health than making money. There is alot of competition with natural cosmetics and body products so you can still look fabulous and be healthy too! As with food, if you need a scientist to indentify ingredients, don’t buy it!! Below is a list of ingredients that you should always avoid when buying any type of body product especially when you are applying creams and lotions to your children. I am also listing below a list of eco-friendly companies that will not use any of those ingredients in their products. There are others as well but these are the ones I have used and researched.

So here are the…..INGREDIENTS TO AVOID:
